Lots of action at Fortress Obetz!

Rugged rugby
Keeping with the tradition of hosting a wide variety of events, the Fortress Obetz sports complex did just that on May 21. Hosting the Rugby Ohio High School Regional Quarter Finals as well as Youth and Middle School Championships. Pictured here, Marysville took on Medina (white jersey) in a middle school match up with Marysville coming out on top 20-12. The Fortress will host the State High School Semi-finals on May 28-29 and the championships on June 4.

Frisbee fun
Working around the rain on May 21, the Fortress Obetz hosted the Columbus Prides’ final home game of the Premier Ultimate League (Frisbee) season as well as Skills and Drills Youth Clinic. The Premier Ultimate League is made up of 12 teams across the country and will hold its Championship Weekend games at the Fortress Obetz June 18-19. On May 21, Columbus faced off against the Raleigh Radiance who came out on top 17-8.

Hot wheels
Nine-year-old Jase Murray is leading the way to a victory in the final race at the recent Buckeye Quarter Midget races on the track at Fortress Obetz. Murray is being chased by Kali Bushl (10) and Jax Floyd (8) There will be eight more races this season at the Obetz track. For information contact bqmra.com.

Racing at the Fortress
Chad Lott of Grove City entered his 2006 Corvette in the Ohio Valley Region SCCA Autocross event held May 22 at Fortress Obetz. There are a number of Autocross events that are held at the Fortress for racers chasing seasonal points or for those just curious to see what they can do behind the wheel of their daily driver. The next event will be June 12. Some events are also being scheduled for Wednesday nights under the lights. All participants need to register in advance with the Ohio Valley Region SCCA. Spectators are welcome to watch for free.
