Longtime Jonathan Alder High School girls’ basketball coach Terra McDaniels is stepping down. The school board accepted her resignation on April 14.

McDaniels has coached at Jonathan Alder for 17 years, 11 as varsity head coach. During that time, she compiled a 177-86 record and a state championship.

Her teams won district titles five times (2004, 2005, 2006, 2011 and 2012) and regional titles twice (2004 and 2006). The 2004 team made it to the final four; the 2006 team won the state title.

Principal Phil Harris said McDaniels is resigning as coach due to family health concerns. She will continue to teach special education at Monroe Elementary.
