Members of Madison-Plains High School’s varsity girls’ basketball team were all smiles at the close of their Jan. 5 home game against Fairbanks. Their 41-29 victory brought to an end a winless streak that spanned more than 80 games over multiple seasons.
First-year Head Coach Aaron Stewart was hopeful for a win going into the game, confident that his 0-9 team had a number of wins ahead of them this season. Stewart said he is working hard to rebuild the team, getting some girls back on the court who have not played in a few years, as well as welcoming new players.
The junior varsity team also had a good day, beating Fairbanks 27-25 for their second win on the season.
