Groveport Elementary student Ashley Pettay, 10, grew her hair long so it could be cut and donated to Locks of Love, an organization that turns donated hair into wigs for anyone who has lost their hair due to a medical condition or associated therapy. Ashley’s cousin, Caroline A. Carter, 7, passed away last summer from Neuroblastoma. Caroline had gone through several years of treatments including chemotherapy causing her to lose all of her hair. Ashley donated her own hair in memory of Caroline to Locks of Love. Ashley’s mother, Francine Pettay said, "Ashley was nervous but, she said ‘I’m just going to close my eyes and tell Krissy to get it over with because I’m doing this for a good cause.’ I am proud of Ashley for setting a goal to grow her hair out so that she could donate it." Ashley is pictured here getting her hair cut by Krissy Corcoran of Salon Lofts in Pickerington on Nov. 29. |
