With spring in the air and warm weather on the horizon, a local organization is putting the finishing touches on spring and summer activities.
The Lincoln Village Residents Association announced that they will be once again be hosting their annual yard sale, Music in the Park Concert Series and their annual Fourth of July Celebration.
“These are annual events we try to have every year,” said Terry Allen, president of the association. “They provide us with a great opportunity to get neighbors together and hopefully increase or membership.”
The first of the spring and summer events will be the annual Lincoln Village Yard Sale. This event will take place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, May 13 through Sunday, May 15 and Friday, August 12 through Sunday August 14.
“Anyone in the neighborhood can participate,” Allen said. “With over 800 homes in our neighborhood we have at least 100 homes participate annually, if not more.”
Residents from throughout Prairie Township are invited to come shop during the event. According to Allen, all kinds of items can be found, including furniture, clothes, baby toys and almost anything else you can think of.
Another big event the Lincoln Village Residents Association will be hosting again in 2016 is their annual Music in the Park Series. The annual series will take place from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 4; Saturday, July 23; Saturday, August 6; and Saturday, August 27 at Carl Frye Park.
“The bands that will be performing this year are Salty Six, Copy Write Infringement, River Rats and Shotgun Eddy,” Allen said. “We try to get as many different bands as possible to accommodate everyone’s music taste. These bands range from old time music to classic rock.”
Residents from other neighborhoods in the township are invited to attend this free music concert series. Allen said that guests can also pack a picnic and make an evening of it. The only rule is that no alcohol is allowed in the park.
“We will be raffling off gift baskets during each of the concerts as well,” Allen said. “In the past we have raffled off OSU baskets, cheese baskets and even movie baskets.”
Tickets for the raffle are $1 a ticket or six tickets for $5. Allen said guests also are encouraged to tip the bands and tip jar will be made available for guests to contribute to.
The final big event the association is doing this summer is a Fourth of July Celebration for residents who live in Lincoln Village. This celebration picnic takes place from noon to 2 p.m. on the Fourth of July at Carl Frye Park and is not open to the public.
“We love to celebrate this big summer holiday together,” Allen said. “Residents of our neighborhood will enjoy a potluck picnic that has everything from grilled hotdogs to fresh apple pie.”
