Crisis in the community
The Center for Groveport Madison Human Needs (CGMHN) is currently in crisis mode with no funds available to assist those in our school district community in dire need of cash assistance to keep their homes functioning.
The CGMHN is diligently recruiting new community partners, which has been a great help, but we are not nearly where we could be in order to be effective for the remainder of 2008.
When we made our last plea for assistance at the end of July, we were blessed to receive nearly $3,500 in financial aide. This money lasted us through the months of August and September and it assisted 23 families with help they wouldn’t have otherwise had quickly enough to prevent a financial domino effect. Not only that, we’ve assisted four clients with food stamp applications to help them lighten their financial load with food while getting back on their feet. Several others have been referred to various job opportunities.
This effort is not to put the load on just one donor, but multiple donors. If multiple donors assist even with a small amount, the total is greater in the long run. If you have not recently contributed to this human needs effort of our community, we ask you to consider doing so now so we don’t have to turn anyone else away. Our waiting list for funds is currently at four with a total amount of $1,000 needed to cover their requests for mostly rent assistance with the most urgent for a family with two children who need help to avoid immediate eviction.
If you, your group or organization are able to assist, funds can be made payable to "CGMHN" and delivered or mailed to 607 Main St., Groveport, OH 43125. For information call (614) 586-4017 or visit www.center4gmhn.org.
Thank you for your consideration.
