Groveport Park filled on April 21 as community members supported the annual Legacy of Love 5K Run/Walk honoring the impactful life of Alexandria Goodwin. Her mother, Sara Sherman, hopes for the race promotes the same acts of kindness that Alexandria was known for. Goodwin passed away in 2016 — at the age of 20. Proceeds from the event promote random acts of kindness in a variety of ways and provide scholarships to local students who mirror Goodwin’s high standards of academic achievement, extracurricular activity, and service to others. Goodwin was 2014 graduate of Groveport Madison High School and a public relations major at Capital University.

The event featured both an adult and kids’ runs. Ryan Apseloff, 10, took first place at the Legacy of Love 5K with an impressive finishing time of 21:29. He attends fourth grade at Brookside Elementary in Worthington and is eager to run for his school’s teams in the coming years.
