Throughout the year, the Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks host a variety of outdoor adventure programs that provide hands-on experiences for visitors looking to learn new outdoor skills. On Feb. 18, Scioto Grove Metro Park in Grove City was the site of a ‘how to build a fire’ program that taught visitors the basics of building a fire in a safe and sustainable manner. Here, Travis Campbell, an outdoor adventure program specialist, demonstrates how to successfully build a small fire using tinder and kindling placed in an aluminum pan. For more upcoming outdoor adventure programs scheduled to take place at the local Metro Park, visit their website at www.metroparks.net to search for activities.
