Learn how to manage chronic health conditions at free workshop

The Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging is offering a free “Healthy U” workshop to help people learn how to manage their chronic health conditions. Sessions will take place from 1 to 3:30 p.m. on Thursdays, May 23-June 27, at St. Patrick Church, 61 S. Union St., London.

Participants will learn from trained leaders who also have health conditions, and they will set goals and make step-by-step plans to improve their health. Those who complete the workshop will receive a copy of “Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions.”

The following topics will be covered:
• techniques to deal with problems such as frustration, fatigue, pain and depression;
• suggestions on exercise for maintaining and improving strength, flexibility and endurance;
• stress and relaxation;
• communicating effectively with family, friends and health professionals;
• nutrition; and
• how to evaluate new treatments.
