Have an idea for a business but need to know how to get it off the ground?
The Ohio Small Business Development Center at Columbus State Community College is holding a start-up business development workshop Oct. 24-25 at the Comer Building (formerly The Armory), 15 E. Second St., London. Hours are 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. each night. The workshop is free. Registration is required.
“This is a great opportunity to talk to experts about your idea and have them help you flesh it out in a structured environment,” said Tom Fisher, a member of the Downtown London Association, which is helping to coordinate the event.
The two-part workshop will cover the following topics:
* how to find, reach and connect with customers;
* legal business structures;
* tax requirements;
* how to market and sell your product or service;
* how to write a business plan; and
* access to sources of financing.
Certified business advisors from the Small Business Development Center, along with attorneys, accountants, bankers and other business experts, will lead the workshop. They will evaluate participants’ initial concepts, determine their readiness, and provide an overview of the start-up process.
“It’s the same type of workshop you would get at the center’s fixed site in Columbus, but by bringing it to London, you don’t have to travel to Franklin County to get it,” Fisher said.
The Ohio Small Business Development Center at Columbus State provides consulting, advising and educational programs designed to support growth-oriented small businesses and entrepreneurs in central Ohio. The center is supported by the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Ohio Development Services Agency, the city of Columbus, Columbus State, and other local partners.
To sign up for the Oct. 24-25 workshop, go to the Downtown London Association Facebook page, click on “Events,” then scroll down to “Get Tickets.”
