Learn about 4-H, join a club at Rally Night on Jan. 30

4-H Rally Night is scheduled for 6:30 to 8 p.m. Jan. 30 in the Della Selsor Building at the Madison County Fairgrounds, 205 Elm St., London.

Attendees will learn how to join 4-H. Madison County is home to 33 4-H clubs. Representatives of some of the clubs will be on hand to accept new members on the spot.

Among all of the fun things to learn about in 4-H are First Aid, gun safety, shooting sports, sewing, reptiles and amphibians, robotics, rocketry, beekeeping, and livestock, just to name a few.

Many project key leaders will be at Rally Night to answer questions. They will represent the following project areas: rabbits, small animals, poultry, goats, alpacas, sheep, swine, horse, beef, dairy, dogs, special interest, industrial arts, conservation, and shooting sports.

Matt Teders, Madison County game warden, plans to set up a portable archery range to help spark interest in 4-H archery projects. He also will display animal furs to touch and identify.

Junior Fair Board members will talk about their experiences showing 4-H projects at the county fair. Camp counselors will share their excitement for this year’s 4-H camp to be held June 6-9 at 4-H Camp Clifton near Yellow Springs.    They will teach visitors some camp songs and dances.

The Cloverbud key leader will explain 4-H activities for youngsters who are 5 years old and in kindergarten through second grade.  A Cloverbud day camp is scheduled for June 7.

The 4-H Blender Bike will be on site. This interactive teaching tool is used to communicate healthy living messages, such as the importance of incorporating physical activity and a healthy diet full of fruits and vegetables into daily life.
