The city of Grove City offers residential leaf collection, beginning Oct. 11. The city is divided into eight areas, and each area is assigned two separate weeks for the collection of leaves.
Homeowners should rake their leaves to the curb in front of the residence prior to the first day of the designated week of collection for the area. Rake leaves to the grassy area between the street and the sidewalk or to the edge of your lawn, if there are no sidewalks. Do not rake or blow leaves into the street to keep from creating storm sewer blockages as well as parking issues. Leaf piles will not kill grass, although temporary fading may occur. Vehicles should not be parked in front of, or on top of, leaves during scheduled collection weeks. This collection is for leaves only. The equipment works efficiently on leaves, but is easily damaged by other materials such as branches, twigs, grass clippings, rocks and or other debris.
If residents prefer to have leaves picked up prior to or after their scheduled date, leaves can be placed in yard waste bags/containers for collection by Local Waste Services on their regular trash pickup day.
The leaf collection service runs through Dec. 2. Planned collection dates may change due to weather conditions and when the leaves fall. The leaf collection map and schedule is posted on the city website at www.GroveCityOhio.gov.
