The owners of La Carreta Mexican Restaurant, 1092 Eagleton Blvd. in London, are grateful to be back up and running after a fire caused major damage to their business last November.
They credit the outpouring of care and support from their customers for giving them the will and energy to rebuild and reopen.
“You have no idea how many messages, phone calls, and emails we received and people stopping in to see the progress,” said Mayra Vazquez who operates the restaurant with her mother, Delia Arellano, the primary owner, and her father, Jesus Atilano.
“The desire from people to see us come back and be successful helped us make the decision to come back. We are grateful for all the support, love, and prayers for our family,” Mayra added.
The restaurant has been repaired and remodeled from top to bottom–new ceilings, floors, seating, restrooms. Practically everything is new. One thing that has not changed: the menu and the hospitality.
La Carreta is known for its fajitas, guacamole made fresh tableside, and margaritas in a wide variety of flavors. They have a wide array of dishes from which to choose, including another popular dish–molcajete. Served in a lava bowl, molcajete features cactus, onions, house-made carnitas (shredded pork), chicken, and vegetables with sauce and cheese on top.
A soft reopening took place on Oct. 12. The restaurant officially reopened with a ribbon-cutting on Oct. 13.
Hours are: Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m.; Friday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-10:30 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
