Canal Winchester’s elected officials will wait tables to earn tips at a charity fund raiser for Relay for Life.
On May 19 from 5:30–8 p.m., Canal Winchester Mayor Michael Ebert and city council members will serve dinner at the Canal Winchester Frances Steube Community Center, 22 S. Trine St. The city’s Relay for Life team is called The Village People 4 A Cure. The three-course meal will include a house salad and bread, spaghetti and meatballs, iced tea, lemonade, coffee, and a dessert. Cost is $10 per adult and $5 per child (age 10 and under). Tickets can be purchased at the door the night of the event while supplies last. Carry-out dinners will also be available.
The dinner is named in honor of the late Kristen Sims, who worked to bring Relay for Life to Canal Winchester. In addition to the dinner, the group will offer a 50/50 raffle with the winner announced at the end of the evening. All tips and proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life virtual event on June 26. Donations are tax deductible and receipts will be available upon request.
Cash, check, or credit cards will be accepted at the fundraiser and parties will be seated on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests are expected to follow all current public health guidelines, including wearing a facial covering when not seated at the dining table.
