Registration deadlines for this year’s London Strawberry Festival royalty and baby contests are earlier this year than they have been in past years. The festival is set for June 20-22 in downtown London.
Registration is open now for the royalty and baby contests. Applications and contest details can be found at londonstrawberryfestival.com. Entry forms also are available at London area businesses.
Applications are due by June 6. Fees must be paid by certified check, money order or Pay Pal. Cash and personal checks are not accepted.
A mandatory contestant meeting will take place on June 6. The meeting will include a practice session for contestants, information for parents and guardians, and a photo session for the media. No additional applications will be accepted after the meeting. Miss Shortcake and royalty contestants (ages 4-18 as of June 1, 2019) are required to attend with a parent or legal guardian. Candidates who do not attend the meeting are not permitted to participate in the contests. Baby contestants up to age 3 are not required to attend.
Contest judges will be from out of town. Scoring will be based primarily on poise, speaking ability, personality and overall presentation.
Those selected for the royalty court will participate in parades, luncheons, community service projects and other appearances around Ohio and in neighboring states in the year following the festival. They also play a key part in the festival and host a luncheon for visiting queens.
Royalty contestants must live in Madison County or attend a surrounding school. The baby contest is open to anyone (ages 0-3 years old) regardless of where they live.
