If your Sunday morning on Sept. 8 was a little noisier, it may have been the sound of the F-22 Raptors going home. More than a dozen of the Raptors relocated to Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base from the 1st Fighter Wing at Langley Air Force Base located near Virginia’s eastern shore, while Hurricane Dorian made its way up the coast. There were a number of military aircraft that used Rickenbacker for a safe place to stay during the storm, but none seem to draw the attention that the Raptors do, drawing a number of enthusiasts that wait outside the fence for glimpse of their departure.
