The London Rotary Club is pleased to honor senior Jacob Peterson as London High School’s September Student of the Month.
Students of the month are selected by school administrators based on their academic and extracurricular achievement and positive character.
Jacob has a 4.43 grade point average and is ranked 29th in his class. His favorite class is biology.
Jacob spends his free time writing and producing music and says, “While it’s only a hobby, I plan to continue to work at it to become an artist. I only rap at the moment, but I intend on learning to sing so I can branch into different genres of music, eventually putting my music on all streaming services.”
When asked to name a school staff person who inspires him, Jacob named Rosa Flores.
“Mrs. Flores instilled a good work ethic in me due to the constant outlines and pop quizzes we had which prepared me for the final and made me a better overall student,” he said.
About Jacob, Flores said, “I’ve known Jacob for two years and can attest to his strength of character and leadership skills within the classroom. From helping students with content to leading his group in lab activities, Jacob has always prepared for class and was willing to do what it takes to understand the content. Jacob was one of the highest performing biology students I have had the pleasure of teaching and his biology state exam score of a 5 is evidence of mastery in the subject. Jacob currently holds an impressive GPA of 4.4, and I am sure he will continue to succeed academically.
“Jacob also has an artistic side that few people get to see, as he can be rather timid. I had the pleasure of watching several of Jacob’s rap videos. For a student that can be incredibly quiet, he is also a talented singer and entertainer.”
After graduation, Jacob plans to attend a two-year college and is undecided on his major. He is the son of Marvin and Tonia Peterson of London.
The London Rotary Club has a proud history dating back to 1929. It is a member of Rotary International, a volunteer organization of 1.2 million business and professional leaders united worldwide to provide humanitarian service and help build good will and peace.
