Jackson Township responds to fatal fire in Grove City

Jackson Township fire personnel were dispatched at 2:47 a.m. Feb. 4 to the 2700 block of Independence Way in Grove City after dispatchers received a call from a neighbor whose dog woke him up. Fire crews reported fire coming through the roof of the house with heavy fire involvement when they arrived on scene, and they immediately began their interior attack according to Jackson Township Fire Chief Randy Little.
An occupant of the house was found in the kitchen and pronounced dead on the scene. State and local fire officials are investigating the cause of the fire which has not yet been determined.
