It’s time for the Franklin County Fair

The Franklin County will be held July 18-25 at the Franklin County Fairgrounds at 5043 Northwest Parkway in Hilliard.

Gates are open from 9 a.m. – 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturdays; 9 a.m. – 10 p.m. on Sunday through Thursday. Standard daily admission is $6 (those age two and under are free). Advance tickets are available for $4 from June 1 to July 17 – call (614) 876-7235 for details.

All attractions, parking and performances are free with admission (excluding rides, games and food from Bates Amusements). Tickets for rides are available on-site. Single ride tickets are $1, and unlimited ride wristbands are available for $10-15.

Some of this year’s new events include:

•Several concerts throughout the week, including a July 19 performance by local gospel group, The Rock at 3 p.m. and The Bundy’s at 5 p.m. Plus there will be other musical performers throughout the fair.

•Nationwide Children’s Hospital Kids’ Tent will feature interactive agricultural activities, a nearby petting zoo, and entertainer Farmer Tom Walsh sharing fun songs and stories from the farm.

•Eight Days of Power features several high octane, muscle-fueled events in the grandstand, featuring a professional championship boxing event sponsored by Title Boxing Clubs, Your Power Hour Workout, a mixed martial arts fight, two days of harness racing, demolition derby featuring the popular mower class, and truck and tractor pulls including a new antique tractor pull event from the Ohio State Antique Tractor Pullers Association.

•Guests can enjoy three July 19 exhibitions from the high-energy, Wheelie Wizard.

•Columbus College of Art Design exhibit in the Fine Arts Building, showcasing student work, and engaging guests in the act of making art.

Returning attractions, include:

•The Livestock Barn, where guests can experience farm animals from neighboring communities, including goats, donkeys, sheep and more.

•A variety of Junior and Senior Fair contests, exhibits and livestock shows, including the long-standing Franklin County Engineer’s Chili Contest and Franklin County Commissioners’ Pie Contest.

•Celebration of Food day featuring the Ohio Proud Store with homegrown products from Ohio Proud partners throughout the State.

•DockDogs® where dogs of all shapes and sizes will compete four times a day in a variety of categories.

•Rides, games and food from Bates Amusement.

•Daily contests, open to the public, including skillet throwing, pie eating and a kiddie tractor pull – plus some surprise pop-up contests throughout the week.
