The London Visual Arts Guild is hosting an exhibit featuring the photography of Irwin resident Jenell Shrock. The show runs through Sept. 24 at the London Arts Center, 121 E. First St.
A reception is set for Sept. 17, 2-4 p.m. Regular gallery hours are: Thursdays and Sundays, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.; Saturdays, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Open studio hours are 4-7 p.m. Tuesdays. Admission is free.
Shrock got her start in photography in 2009 after a stint with a digital point-and-shoot camera. The experience awakened in her a strong passion for all things photography.
In 2013, she enrolled in the photography program at Columbus State Community College and earned certificates in advanced photography and Photoshop. Her training covered many genres, including portraiture, landscape, macro, night, real estate, and product photography.
Shrock has applied her photography skills to shooting weddings, school sports and events, church baptisms, baby dedications, social events, community events, and real estate.
“Most recently, I’ve taken a course in food blogging photography and have hired out as a photographer for food bloggers,” she said. “To round things out a bit, I’ve also captured some family moments and senior poses. My next little stint is going to involve newborn photography as I get into my ‘grandma mode.’”
Shrock’s show is running in conjunction with an exhibit titled “Life’s Rhythms” featuring the acrylic paintings of Karla Knief Sill.
