A homicide investigation is under way following an incident that took place in London on April 21.
At 5:43 p.m. that day, London’s police and fire units were dispatched on a report of an unresponsive male at 255 Washington Ave. Once on scene, first responders determined the male, Jamie A. Crim, 29, of London had been shot. His girlfriend found him when she returned home. Medics transported Crim to Madison Health where he was later pronounced dead.
Information gathered at the scene and further investigation led to the arrest of Nilen C. Harner, 17, of Springfield. Harner was charged with murder on April 22. He is being held at the Central Ohio Youth Center in Marysville. The motive for the shooting remains under investigation. Authorities recovered a handgun at the scene that they suspect was used in the shooting.
The London Police Department is heading up the investigation with assistance from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and Madison County Prosecutor’s Office. The Springfield Police and Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation assisted with the investigation and arrest. The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy on April 22.
“We are still investigating and following up on leads,” said London Police Chief Glenn Nicol, adding that he is waiting on the autopsy report at this time.
