Groveport’s Hometown Country Concert blends together two things people love – summer and music.
The second annual Hometown Country Concert will be held July 23 starting at 6 p.m. in Groveport Park, 7370 Groveport Road, at the Groveport Aquatic Center.
This free concert will feature the southern rock/country music band, 90 Proof Twang, as the opening act followed by the headliner, Crossroad Station, which plays music that is a blend of deep rooted country with rock and blues influences.
Groveport Community Affairs Director Patty Storts said the Hometown Country Concert is one of a variety of musical options offered in Groveport events throughout the year.
“We do the rock and roll genre on July 4 and bluegrass on Apple Butter Day,” said Storts. “This summer I wanted to cover the country genre as well. Those are three large events that all feature different musical genres.”
Storts said events like the Hometown Country Concert contribute to the cultural vitality of a community.
“Community events are important and maybe even necessary for the good health of communities,” said Storts. “Community events are like family reunions, a time when we see our friends and neighbors and all are gathered for the same purpose – to enjoy a spirit of camaraderie.”
