Violet Township employees recently made a discovery while making way for the Diley Road widening project. While removing the siding from a home at Diley and Busey roads, workers found an early 19th century log house that is thought to have belonged to the Root family, one of the first families to settle the Pickerington area. Pictured here, Violet Township Engineer Greg Butcher directs his crew as they carefully remove the siding to expose the logs beneath. The condition of the house is not yet known and it is still uncertain whether the structure can be saved.
