The Ohio Village Muffins celebrate 40 years of vintage “base ball” in Ohio. The city of Grove City hosts the Ohio Village Muffins (men) and Diamonds (women) in vintage base ball games. Family and friends bring chairs or blankets and watch 1860s-style games as the Grant Homestead Comets and Diamonds play at noon and the Century Village Greyhounds and Muffins compete at 2 p.m.

Tour the recently restored railroad station and other historic buildings while enjoying music and reenactment drills. Learn about Grove City’s past from historians dressed in period clothing representing the homesteaders and military from the 19th century.

“We’re looking forward to a day filled with old-fashioned fun and fellowship,” Mayor Richard “Ike” Stage said. “This has been one of the most anticipated annual events and it will be good to bring everyone together again.”

Debuting this year is a reenactment unit from Grove City representing the 113th Ohio Volunteer Infantry, Company C, from the Civil War. The original company mustered in at Camp Chase Oct. 24, 1862, and included Jonas Orders who once lived on the land that makes up Fryer Park today. Throughout the day, reenactments include soldiers from the War of 1812, the Civil War, WWI and WWII with a civilian camp and historical demonstrations.
