It’s time again to enter the Kurt Lattimer Aspiring Artist Award contest. The award goes to young local artists from Madison County who are slated to complete their high school education this academic year.
“We believe this community has many young, talented individuals who need something to motivate and inspire them to express themselves in a positive way by sharing their God-given talents,” said program organizers. “We hope this will challenge students to continue to share their talents and promote the arts in Madison County for years to come.”
The award commemorates the life of an amazing artist. The hope is this award will keep his spirit alive in the hearts of many aspiring artists.
Applicants are to submit an entry form along with an 11 x14-inch or 16×20-inch painting (watercolor, acrylic, oil, pastel) or drawing (graphite pencil, charcoal, pen and ink) framed under glass or stretched canvas, wired for hanging and suitable for public display. Forms and entries should be submitted to the London Arts Center, 121 E. First St., London, OH 43140, by Jan. 17, 2021.
Entry forms and additional information about how to enter the contest, including a video presentation, are available under “Exhibits” at https://londonvisualartsguild.org/.
The work should represent what the student “dreams of for their future.”
All artwork will be on display and open for public viewing during free exhibits at local venues. A group of local artists will judge the works and select three winners:
• First place prize–Cash award of $1,000 and an opportunity to display their work as part of a mural to share in the community;
• Second place prize–Cash award of $250.
• Third place prize–Cash award of $100.
