Heritage Celebration in Grove City

Join in the fun from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 1 in Fryer Park as the Southwest Franklin County Historical Society (SWFCHS) and the city of Grove City present the annual Heritage Celebration.

Bring family and friends to Century Village, 4185 Orders Road, and experience a taste of everyday life in an Ohio farm community in the late 1800s through hands-on activities, building tours, carriage rides and demonstrations as history comes to life while period ballads and music fills the air. Watch vintage “base ball” as the Century Village Greyhounds take on the Ohio Village Muffins in an 1860s-style contest at 1 p.m.

Observe a tinsmith as he forms metal and partake in a variety of traditional games that bring the everyday experiences of Grove City’s ancestors to life. Stop by the SWFCHS tent for local history information, cultural exhibits and events at Century Village, the Grove City Museum and the Grant-Sawyer Home.

The event is free, but donations to the Grove City Food Pantry are appreciated. Handmade historical items as well as food and beverages are available for purchase.

For more information, contact the Grove City Parks and Recreation Department at GroveCityOhio.gov or call 614-277-3050.
