HELP House seeks donations for back-to-school outreach

H.E.L.P. House is celebrating its 25th anniversary of serving children and families in need. The non-profit strives to ensure that area children, especially those whose families are struggling to make ends meet, have equal access to healthy food, clothing, and the necessities and opportunities they need to feel successful, prepared, and confident.

H.E.L.P. House’s annual back-to-school outreach provides children with school supplies and backpacks prior to the beginning of a new school year. This year’s distribution is set for 9 a.m.-noon Aug. 12 at H.E.L.P. House, 122 E. Center St., London. The focus is children in grades K-8. Donations of school supplies and backpacks are due to H.E.L.P. House by Aug. 7.

Donations of school supplies and clothing can be dropped off on: Mondays, 9 a.m. -3 p.m.; Tuesdays, 8:30 a.m.-noon; Wednesdays, 9 a.m.-noon; and Saturdays, 9-11 a.m.
Volunteers are needed from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 9 to assist with set-up for the back-to-school outreach event and from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Aug. 12 to assist with set-up, distribution, and tear-down.

Needed school supplies include backpacks, pocket folders, 12-count colored pencils, vinyl zippered pouches, spiral bound wide-rule and college notebooks, loose-leaf paper wide-rule and college, highlighters, three-ring binders, index cards, and black, blue, and red pens.
