HELP House revamps annual toy collection

(Posted Nov. 25, 2020)

Before COVID-10, HELP House in London would collect donations of new and used toys throughout the year. The non-profit would then organize a Christmas shopping event that helped more than 100 families, including 200 children between the ages of 0 and 18. The families could select one new toy and two used toys for each of their children. The community has always helped to make this effort a success by donating money and toys.

The pandemic has changed things. HELP House has been unable to take in clothing and toy donations and, due to social distancing requirements, is unable to organize its Christmas shopping event and Little Lambs Christmas Party

Instead, the organization is asking the community to help by sponsoring a family. HELP House will prepare a list that includes information regarding the family: child’s name, gender, age and gift wish. Donors are asked to keep the price of the gift to around $25 per child.

The deadline for families to sign up to receive gifts is Dec. 1.

Unwrapped and clearly identified gifts should be dropped off at the HELP House by Dec. 16 to allow plenty of time for the gifts to be delivered to each family before Christmas.

To sponsor a family or child, call (740) 852-1980 or email Barbara Moore at HELP House is located at 122 E. Center St., London.
