Harvest time at the Highland Youth Garden

Phillip Fugate helps his son Xayvion, 2, paint a pumpkin at the Highland Youth Garden’s Fall Harvest Festival on Oct. 13. Fugate said it was the first time his family has participated in one of the Highland Youth Garden’s seasonal events and added that they all had fun getting to work on their artistic skills. According to Shelly Casto, the executive director of the Highland Youth Garden, they will host a smaller event on Nov. 20 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in preparation for holidays. “It will be our big produce blowout,” she said of the upcoming Thanksgiving Market. The Highland Youth Garden is located at 67 S. Highland Ave. in Columbus.

Outlaw, a mixed breed goat from Harrison Farm 13 in Groveport, munches on some of the vegetation in the garden.
Nadia Muhall, the manager of after-school and family programs at the Highland Youth Garden, showcases some of the vegetable yield produced at the site on S. Highland Avenue.
