Plans are in full swing for the historic Feb. 13 Violet Township trustee meeting to be held at the Pickerington High School Central Performing Arts Center beginning with a reception at 6:30 p.m. and program from 7:30-9 p.m.
The opening ceremony for Violet Township’s year long bicentennial celebration will be narrated by Sunny95 Radio personality, Clark Donley and Pickerington resident John Hammond. It will be a historic presentation including members of the drama, vocal and instrumental departments of both Pickerington high schools Central and North.

Subjects of the skit will include agriculture and commerce in the township; the Pickerington Schools; and early 20th century progression. Special appearances will be made by 1860s Governor William Dennison (portrayed by Bob Davis) speaking about the railroads; David Meyer, speaking about the canal system, and President Abraham Lincoln (portrayed by John Cooper) discussing the Civil War.
Wrapping up the evening will be the premier performance of "The Violet Township Song," written by Mike Sewell, instrumental director of Pickerington High School Central and by John Long, vocal music director of Pickerington High School Central.
