The following are among the pets up for adoption at the Humane Society of Madison County. If you are interested in adopting a pet, fill out an application online at www.hsmcohio.org or call the shelter at (614) 879-8368.

Alvin

Alvin
Alvin is a coonhound mix and about the happiest boy you will ever meet. Since Day 1 at the shelter, he has been nothing but friendly and ready to go. This sweet boy came to the shelter as a stray, is 1.5 years old and weighs approximately 60 pounds. He has never known a stranger in human or dog form and is ready to meet and play with just about anyone.

Because he is so high energy, he probably would not do well in a house with cats, as he would probably think it’s all a game. Even if no one is around, he will entertain himself. Given the chance, he will throw his own toys around the room just to chase them. He would prefer to play with people more and could play ball for hours. This boy is a very excitable and happy dog who would make a great addition to anyone who can love him just as much and keep up with his energy.

Adoption fees for dogs are as follows: shelter dogs, $150; prison dogs, $200; puppies, $250; popular pure-breeds, $400. The price includes: a Home Again microchip, shots, deworming, heartworm testing (if old enough), spay or neuter, and a one-year rabies shot (if old enough). All dogs that are adopted must leave with a county license at an additional cost of $17. All fees are cash only.

Tina

Tina
Tina arrived at the shelter on Dec. 12, 2020, along with her baby, Cas. Tina was an exceptional mama, and now that her baby is grown, it is time for Tina to find her forever home.

This pretty girl is estimated to be 2 years old and is a sweetheart. She loves getting love and attention and will gladly lie in your lap for as long as you let her. You will most likely find Tina lounging on a cozy cat bed, waiting for love and pets. Although Tina was a fantastic mama, she does not enjoy the company of other cats, and the shelter staff imagines she would feel the same way about dogs, as she doesn’t like to share her space. The shelter staff is sure this sweetheart will make a wonderful companion to a loving home.

Adoption fees for cats are $60 for kittens and $35 for cats older than 11 months. The fee includes:a FeLV/FIV test, spay or neuter, set of shots, de-worming, and a one-year rabies shot (if old enough). All fees are cash only.

Needed Supplies
The shelter would welcome donations of clumping cat litter, soft dog treats, and small bags of cat treats.
