In response to the large number of mosquitos, the city of Groveport will initiate spraying activities throughout the corporation limits beginning July 16 (weather permitting) at dusk. Spraying will continue every Thursday (weather permitting) at dusk until further notice. Residents are asked to take precaution during spraying.  They should remain inside, along with pets, while spraying is taking place.

The city of Groveport will continue to contract with Franklin County Public Health for mosquito control. FCPH traps mosquitos and tests for West Nile and other mosquito-borne diseases. They perform routine larviciding to kill young mosquitos and treat breeding areas. Spraying by FCPH only takes place in areas found to have positive disease tests or have an extremely high mosquito count determined by their trapping efforts. The city of Groveport has not had a high enough count for FCPH to perform spraying.

For information regarding mosquito control and spraying precautions, residents can visit www.myfcph.org or call Franklin County Public Health’s Mosquito Bite Line at (614) 525-2483. Questions regarding the city of Groveport’s spraying activities should be directed to city of Groveport Public Works at (614) 836-3910.
