Groveport street maintenance program
The city of Groveport is contracted with Columbus Asphalt Paving, Inc., for the city’s 2016 Street Program. The approximately $480,000 contract includes the following street and sidewalk improvements:
•milling and repaving, along with some curb repairs, for College Street from Main Street to Wirt Road;
•milling and repaving, along with some curb repairs, for Walnut Street from Main Street to Wirt Road;
•milling and repaving, along with some curb repairs, for Cherry Street from West Street to Wirt Road;
•crack sealing streets in various subdivisions;
•striping on Commerce Center Drive and Saltzgaber Road;
•extending the Main Street sidewalk in front of Groveport Elementary west through the grassy area along the street to meet the school’s driveway;
•completion of the sidewalk from Heritage Park to Main Street along the south side of Wirt Road.
Affected residents will be notified prior to work commencing. Project work is scheduled to begin May 31 with completion by Aug. 25, weather permitting.
Pontius/Rohr road project
Groveport City Engineer Steve Farst said left turn lanes will be added to Rohr Road at its intersection with Pontius Road. He said work on the project is expected to begin in May and that there will be no detour traffic on Wirt Road. He said the intersection is within the jurisdiction of Franklin County and that the project is being funded by the developer that is developing the warehouse site at the southeast corner of Rohr and Pontius roads.
