Farmers Market
The Groveport Farmers Market will be held every Tuesday from June 4 through Sept. 10 from 4-7 p.m. in the grassy area near Ace Hardware on Main St. Four of the days will have special themes: June 4 – Family Farm Market; July 2 – Red, White, and Kids Celebration; Aug. 6 – Dog Days; and Sept. 3 – Customer Appreciation Day. Tables and chairs shared with Lockbourne
Groveport Town Hall recently obtained new tables and chairs and then donated its old tables and chairs to the village of Lockbourne. Groveport Community Affairs Director Patty Storts said Lockbourne recently purchased an old school house and converted it into a community center and needed tables and chairs. Lockbourne received 50 chairs and 39 tables from Groveport for their new community center.
Elm Street parking could change
Groveport City Council is considering limiting parking to one side of the street on Elm Street west of College Street. According to Groveport City Administrator Marsha Hall, the action is being considered because of the narrowness of the street in that area. Hall said letters will be sent to residents of that area explaining what is being planned regarding the parking change and council will consider legislation to enact it at one of its upcoming meetings.
Teachers donate to levy/bond issue campaign
The Groveport Madison Local Education Association donated $45,000 toward the Groveport Madison Schools’ combined levy/bond issue campaign. GMLEA President Joy Bock said the teachers were unanimous in their support of the ballot issue. Todd Gray, a co-chair of the levy/bond issue campaign, said of the amount of the donation, “This was so totally unexpected.” The levy/bond issue is on the May 7 ballot.
