Groveport IS hometown

‘Tis the season! November is the beginning of shorter days, colder temperatures, gatherings with family to give thanks, and accelerated holiday schedules.

As if our days don’t already pass fast enough, now we are going to "kick it up a notch" with Thanksgiving and Christmas right around the corner. Enjoy each moment spent with family and friends.

Hometown. What does this mean to you?  To us at Go Groveport and the Bierberg Mercantile it is community. There is something electric and energizing about being part of something. It might be passing someone on the street and saying, "Hello" while calling out their name. It might be experiencing an unfortunate life situation and receiving support from your neighbors. It is knowing that no matter where in this world life carries you, you always know where your roots are and you are welcomed back. For all these reasons and more, Groveport IS hometown.

Hometown Gift Market

What are you doing the day after Thanksgiving? If shopping is on your agenda, be sure to stop by the Hometown Gift Market at Groveport Zion Lutheran Church, 6014 Groveport Road (directly across from Kroger). Doors open 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Shop for the holidays locally this year and support local-area vendors offering gift baskets, candles, jewelry, holiday decorations, OSU items, perfume, cosmetics and more!

Also available, a relaxing 5-minute rejuvenating chair massage for just $5. Enter the raffle to win some wonderful items donated by the vendors. Join the fun, too, by voting on the "Best Decorated Vendor Table" contest. Admission is pantry staple items to support the Groveport Madison Adopt-A-Family program.

Vendor spaces still available. Call Go Groveport at 836-7939 for information.

Groveport Madison Adopt-A-Family

Previously the Birch Tavern Adopt-A-Family, Go Groveport is pleased to announce that the family of Marty DuBoe-Muncy has asked us to coordinate the program their mother so lovingly committed her life to. We are honored to be asked and will serve the community in this capacity with compassion, respect, and love just as Marty did for so many years.

A team of "angels" is collecting names of families in the Groveport Madison school district who may be in need of Christmas help for their children. If you know of a family in need in our school district, please call 836-7939. All callers are anonymous, as is each family receiving Christmas from this program. Each family will receive a follow-up phone interview to determine their needs.

"Angels" are also needed to help supply families with this Christmas help. Companies, organizations, and families are all welcome and encouraged to participate. To sign-up as an "Angel" or for more information, please call 836-7939.

Go Groveport invites all parents of athletes in the Groveport Madison school district to a "Meet-n-Greet" with our members, businesses and organizations, on Thursday, Nov. 15, at 7 p.m. at 607 Main St. (two doors down from Little Italy). This is an opportunity to put faces to the names of those who support Cruiser athletics, now and in the future. Call Go Groveport at 836-7939 for more information.
