Groveport Buttoneers have success at Franklin County Fair

Thirty-four members of the Groveport Buttoneers 4-H Club had success at this year’s Franklin County Fair.

The club received Best of Show in the scarecrow contest. Individual achievements included:

•State Fair selections: Grant Zwayer and Jake Zwayer in welding; Brittney Frasure in family treasures and photography; Teddy Johnson in becoming money wise; Sam Johnson in rockets; Nathan Zwayer in culinary success and public speaking technology.

•State Fair alternates: Sam Johnson in becoming money wise; Isabelle Johnson in food and fitness and fast break for breakfast; Brittney Frasure in CarTeens.

•Livestock champions: Jake Zwayer – master showman beef cattle and reserve champion swine; Paden Brobst – grand champion dairy veal feeder; Hope Brobst – reserve champion dairy veal feeder; Brittney Frasure – reserve class champion rabbit and best of show small animal (reptile); Melissa Wilhelm – poultry showmanship champion; Madison Frasure – grand champion pigmy goat; David Wilhelm – reserve champion market goats.

•Other livestock: Hope Brobst, Lane Brobst, Paden Brobst, Kelsey Brobst, Jake Zwayer, Nick Zwayer, Roni Cook, Jodi Cook, Grant Zwayer, Kendra Zwayer, Ross Sturgeon – swine; Kendra Zwayer, Grant Zwayer – sheep; Jake Zwayer, Melissa Wilhelm – beef feeders; Kelsey Brobst, Hope Brobst, Paden Brobst – dairy veal feeders; Madison Frasure, Brittney Frasure, Roni Cook, Cody Gilliam, Mariah Clark – rabbits; Clayton Sanders, Colin Sanders, Chase Sanders – turkeys; Chase Sanders, Madison Frasure, David Wilhelm – goats; Mariah Clark – ducks; Brittney Frasure – fancy poultry; Lane Brobst – hamsters; Madison Frasure – guinea pigs; Madison Frasure, Brittney Frasure – reptiles.

•Cloverbuds: Juan Broadnax, Logan Clark, Marty Grace Johnson, Conor Gilliam.

•Service projects: The Groveport Buttoneers 4-H’ers participated in decorating the outside of the Ganyard Building with flower planting and helped with the buyers’ dinner at the livestock auction.
