The following Groveport Buttoneers 4-H Club members received at least a blue ribbon on their projects at the Franklin County Fair and other awards as noted.
•Boston Fowler – Market Swine (blue butt pig) – Grand Champion, heavyweight class, Grand Champion Junior Showman, Grand Champion Overall Market Swine; Market Swine (white pig) – 2nd in Class, 3rd overall. In open class he placed 1st with his black hog and 4th with his white hog.
•Jacob Garrett – Robotics 2 – Outstanding and State Fair Alternate; Exploring Ponds – Outstanding; Creative Baking Pie or Tart Master Chef class.
•Madeline Garrett – Dress Up Dress – Outstanding and State Fair selection, Nominee to State Fashion Board.
•Samantha Garrett – Clothing for Middle School – Outstanding, State Fair Alternate; Shopping Savvy Jr. -Outstanding and State Fair Selection; Grill Master Jr. – Superior and State Fair Alternate; Creative Baking – 4th place in Party Tray Master Chef class.
•Matthew Gavorcik – Snack Attack – Superior, Honorable Mention; Interlock Block Jr. Division – 3rd place.
•Abby Harshman – Scrapbooking – red ribbon.
•Max Harshman – Horseless Horse.
•Brenna Kilbarger – Creative Baking – 1st place Cupcake Decorating contest Sr. Division; Creative Baking – 5th place in Fudge Master Chef class.
•John Lewis – Make Over My Space Sr. – Superior, State Fair Alternate.
•Haylee Ottman – Alcohol and Drug Abuse – Superior.
•Camryn Schooley – Self Determined Sr. – Outstanding; 4th place Intermediate/Senior Division of Interlocking Block contest.
•Chancelyr Schooley – Family History Treasure Hunt – Outstanding and State Fair selection.
•Jadyn Schooley – Self Determined Jr. – Superior, State Fair selection.
•Lauren Wilson – Market Swine – 1st and 3rd in individual lightweight classes and 5th overall in lightweight classes. In Open Class placed 2nd and 3rd.
•Cloverbuds: Branson Fowler, Luke Gavorcik, Nancy Gavorcik, Lizzie Masino; Aubrey Wilson.
Club Advisors: Gaynell Garrett, Jon Hay, Lisa Frasure, Susan Brobst, Melanie Harshman, Josh Schooley and Todd Hill. Susan Brobst has been a 4-H volunteer for 30 years and is retiring this year.
Groveport Buttoneers 4-H Club meets year round and accepts new members in October. Traditional 4-H’ers (taking an individual project) must be age 8 and in the third grade as of Jan. 1, 2018.
