Grove City proclaims January as “Gary Shyu Month”

Grove City Mayor Richard “Ike” Stage (right) presents a proclamation to Cathy and Andrew Shyu, family members of the late Gary Shyu, who died on Dec. 25.

Gary Shyu, a well-known Grove City community member and entrepreneur, died on Dec. 25 at the age of 63. Shyu was the owner of the China Bell Restaurant and Hole in One Lounge.

Grove City Mayor Richard “Ike” Stage presented Shyu’s family with a proclamation from the city, saying the long-time business owner was a respected community servant.

The proclamation said, “Gary tirelessly assisted community organizations in their fundraising and outreach efforts, graciously supported local school sports, events, and activities.

“Our community is forever grateful for Gary’s significant community contributions.”

Stage extended condolences to Shyu’s wife, Cathy, and his sons Michael and Andrew. The mayor then posthumously proclaimed January as “Gary Shyu Month” in Grove City.
