Grove City employee recognized by the International Code Council

Grove City Building Division employee Kota Wharton (right) is recognized by Mayor Richard “Ike” Stage for being named the 2022 National Permit Technician of the Year.

Grove City Safety Director Kevin Teaford announced the building division’s Certified Permit Technician Kota Wharton was awarded the 2022 National Permit Technician of the Year by Permit Tech Nation, an organization of the International Code Council (ICC).

Joining the city’s building division in July 2021, Wharton, in 16 months, achieved regional and national recognition for his involvement in the code profession achieving multiple certifications and committee assignments. He was named to a three-year term on the National Building Code Action Committee, helping to review, develop, and implement building codes to promote building safety and fire prevention.

“The award is well-deserved, and we are truly proud of Kota’s accomplishment and the positive spotlight he’s afforded the ICC and our community,” said Mayor Richard L. “Ike” Stage.
