Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine joined area Girl Scouts in planting tree saplings near Little Darby Creek in West Jefferson on April 29 in celebration of Arbor Day.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources and Girl Scout Councils across Ohio held tree planting events throughout the month of April. The partnership is an effort to assist Girl Scouts with planting 250,000 trees in Ohio by 2026, part of the Girl Scout Tree Promise, a national initiative to plant 5 million trees across the country over five years.

A large group of Girl Scouts became tree planters for a day.
Representatives from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources assisted with the tree planting event.
