Members of the Groveport Heritage Society are shown here sprucing up the historic Sharp’s Landing building in preparation for Apple Butter Day on Oct 12. Visitors to Apple Butter Day can get a glimpse of the area’s Ohio and Erie Canal past by visiting the structure, which is located across Wirt Road from the log house and Heritage Park. The Groveport Heritage Society moved the building from its original site at Rohr and Pontius roads and reconstructed the 62×21 foot, one story, brick, 19th century canal era structure on its current site. The building is believed to have been used as a smokehouse, bakery, and ice house that sat along the Ohio and Erie Canal. Audio tours of the building are also available by calling 614-321-2075.
