Food truck downtown
Groveport City Administrator Marsha Hall said Schmidt’s Sausage Haus will have their food truck parked in front of Ace Hardware on Groveport’s Main Street on Tuesdays from 4-8 p.m. and Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and throughout the city’s farmers’ market season. In 2017, Groveport City Council authorized Hall to allow up to three food trucks to operate at that location during the farmers’ market season.

City income tax assistance
As of Jan. 1, 2019, the Regional Income Tax Agency (RITA) began collecting municipal income tax for the city of Groveport for both current and prior tax years. In the past, residents who did not owe municipal income tax were not required to file. However, beginning with the 2018 filings, all city of Groveport residents and businesses are now required to file returns even if no municipal income tax is due.
Additional information is available on the city of Groveport website, www.groveport.org, by callling RITA’s customer service representative at 800-860-7482, or by calling Bob Curtin, Groveport tax administrator, at 614-836-5301. On March 28, the city of Groveport will host a Taxpayer Assistance Day in the banquet room at the Links at Groveport, 1005 Richardson Road, from noon to 7 p.m. RITA representatives will be available for assistance in answering questions or filing returns.
Pancakes with the Bunny
Have a pancake dinner with the Easter Bunny at the Groveport Recreation Center, 7370 Groveport Road, on April 13 at 5 p.m. Cost is $6 per person. Register by April 7. Call 614-836-1000 to register.
Marshmallow Drop
The annual marshmallow drop will be held in Groveport’s Cruiser Park, 4677 Bixby Road, on April 14 at 2 p.m. On site registration is from 1:15-1:45 p.m. April 14. A helicopter will fly over the park and drop thousands of marshmallows on the grounds for kids to collect and exchange for candy. Free. For information call 614-836-1000.
Through the Years Seniors Prom
Groveport Madison Schools and Groveport Town Hall will present the, “Through the Years Senior Prom” for ages 60 and up on April 6 from 4-6 p.m. at Groveport Madison Middle School Central, 751 Main St. The dance with live music will be held in the gym. Appetizers and drinks provided by Eastland Career Center students. Bring a copy of a photo of yourself from years past to be displayed during the dance. Register by March 29. GSO basketball scrimmage
The Groveport Special Olympics basketball program will hold a scrimmage with the Groveport Madison boys varsity team on March 27 at 6 p.m. at Groveport Madison High School, 4475 S. Hamilton Road. Nonperishable food items will be collected to kick off GSO’s food drive to benefit the Groveport Food Pantry. Monetary donations to GSO will also be accepted. “Spayghetti” dinner
Friends for Life Animal Haven will host its annual “Spayghetti’ dinner on March 23 at the Canal Winchester Community Center, 22 S. Trine St., Canal Winchester, from 4-8 p.m. We will also feature our silent auction, cake auction, and 50/50 raffle. Adult price for dinner is $10 and kids 12 and under eat for $5.
All proceeds from this event support local rescue and adoption and every penny goes directly for the animals that Friends for Life helps. So help the animals and support the mission of “no more homeless pets.”
