For the members of the Grove City High School Band Boosters Spring Bazaar Committee, the days on the calendar are slipping by as March 8 and 9 approach. This team is in the final stages of planning one of central Ohio’s areas largest arts and crafts bazaars.
For more than 25 years, the Grove City High School Band Booster Spring Bazaar has welcomed hundreds of vendors and thousands of guests. The annual event features the creative talents of vendors throughout central Ohio and beyond. Attendees are rarely disappointed, finding everything from vintage jewelry and glassware to hand-made candles, soaps, clothing, and arts and craft items.
"I’m always amazed at the quality and selection of the items available," said vendor coordinator, Paula Taliaferro. "Many of the vendors begin preparing for our spring bazaar months in advance. There’s always something new each year that really captures people’s attention. I think our guests will be pleased with the selections and the very reasonable prices."
A new twist to this year’s bazaar is a health fair and blood drive.
"There is a tremendous shortage of blood units available to hospitals and trauma centers this winter," said bazaar chairperson Bill Morrow. "We thought that by teaming with the America Red Cross and other healthcare providers, we could share health tips with our guests and help others by setting up a blood donation center in a convenient location."
The Grove City band boosters have a wide selection of goodies available for sale. Guests can start their morning off with a generous portion of the booster’s famous breakfast casserole and cup of hot coffee; or drop by for lunch and enjoy a homemade salad, hot-apple dumplings, chicken and noodles, or cornbread and bean soup. Children will also find something to enjoy with hot dogs and Sloppy Joes on the vast menu.
For those interested in becoming a vendor at this year’s bazaar, there are still a few spaces remaining. If you would like to purchase a vendor space, contact Paula Taliaferro at 871-4238 or e-mail her at taliafer@earthlink.net
The Band Booster Spring Bazaar will be open March 8, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and March 9, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m Cost of admission is $2 for adults, $1 for senior citizens, and $1 for children 12 and under. The event is located at Grove City High School, 4665 Hoover Road.
Proceeds from the GCHS Band Booster Spring Bazaar help support the Grove City High School instrumental music program.
