The London Rotary Club is pleased to honor senior Zadien Gattison as London High School’s February Student of the Month.

Students of the month are selected by school administrators based on their academic and extracurricular achievement and positive character.

Gattison has a 4.125 grade point average and is ranked 11th in her class. Her favorite subject is Spanish. She is a two-year member of the National Honor Society and a four-year member of student council. She has served as vice president for both groups.

Gattison is a four-year member of Quick Recall and a three-year member of Teen Leaders of London, a youth-led prevention group. She has been in the cast of three musicals during high school. Additionally, she is the co-founder of Generation Green and a five-year member of the marching band, serving as a trombone section leader for two years.

When asked to name a school staff member who inspires her, Gattison named Angela Hill, a secretary at the high school.

“Mrs. Hill is an inspiration to me because she can deal with kids very well, and she always greets you with a smile,” she said.

About Gattison, Hill commented, “I have had the pleasure of knowing Zadien since she was a young, smiling third-grader at London Elementary. Her true zest for life and her endearing and enthusiastic personality naturally draw people to her. She exudes a quiet confidence that is truly admirable. Zadien’s contagious laugh and genuine (and sometimes ornery) spirit make me smile.

“I am truly blessed to have had the opportunity to watch her grow and mature into the vibrant young woman she is today. She is so incredibly deserving of this honor, and I am truly humbled and honored to have been chosen by her.”

After graduation, Gattison will attend The Ohio State University to pursue a degree in business. She is the daughter of John and Nichole Flynn of London.

The London Rotary Club has a proud history dating back to 1929. It is a member of Rotary International, a volunteer organization of 1.2 million business and professional leaders united worldwide to provide humanitarian service and help build good will and peace.
