Gallery displays student artwork

Chavilah Bennett was one of 29 Tolles Career and Technical Center students who displayed their art at the May Gallery Hop in Columbus.
Tolles art student Sarah Keenan, a junior, recently traveled to Columbus to display her creativity in a gallery.
Kimberly Adams, a senior at Tolles, will study art at Columbus College of Art and Design this autumn.

Tolles Career & Technical Center’s junior and senior art, design and communications students participated in the May Gallery Hop in Columbus on May 3.  Liz Navarro and the Catacombs Gallery gave 29 students the chance to display their work in a gallery setting, an oppor-tunity rarely afforded to high school art students. 

The junior students are: David Booth, Mike Bryan, Alyssa Emmons, Rebecca Green, R.J. Greene, Noah Hoosier, Laura Hutchinson, Synthia Jester, Tom Johnson, Sarah Keenan, Justina Mecera, Shane Salyers, Jen Sullivan and Natassia Tackett.

The work ranged from a knitted beanie to charcoal, pencil and colored pencil drawings. There were acrylic and water-color paintings, copperplate and linoleum prints, storyboards, logo designs and digital art.

Of the senior students participating, Kimberly Adams, Ashley Auker, Chavilah Bennett, Mariclaire  Feike, Corey Filer, Josh Miller and Michelle Mulier have been admitted to the Columbus College of Art and Design for fall.

Amy Hartnett and Melissa Helcher are enrolled at The School of Advertising Art in Kettering. Jennifer Reilly and Michelle McKinney are enrolled at Columbus State Community College, and Delilah Whight-sel will attend The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Senior students also participating were Norman Blythe and Chris Gruett.
