On Aug. 19, from 1 to 5 p.m., the public is invited to a fun-filled afternoon at Kickmaster Footgolf, located at 1700 Dyer Road in Grove City. Admission to the event is free with all proceeds from the raffles, silent auction, and food/bake sale to benefit Mara Toy and her family.
Mara is a 7-year-old who loves to play with her twin brother, Cameron, and older brother, Grant. Her parents, Michelle and Danny Toy, have dreams for Mara, as they do for all three of their children. Yet their dreams for Mara differ from what most parents wish for their children. Michelle and Danny want Mara to share life’s simple pleasures. They want her to grow up and attend college and create the life she envisions for herself. They want her to be healthy.
That’s because Mara, born seven weeks early with brain damage, cerebral palsy, and debilitating seizures, fights every day to live. According to doctors, the seizures have destroyed the right side of her brain and now threaten the left side. The 7-year-old underwent brain surgery on Aug. 1 in an attempt to control the seizures and protect her brain from further damage.
Michelle, a South-Western City Schools graduate, said, “You would envision her in a wheel chair or possibly unable to communicate to you. But Mara is a fighter and a strong brave little girl. She is super smart and has these great big blue eyes that make you fall in love with her the minute you meet her.”
Please join the fun on Aug. 19 at Kickmaster Footgolf to help Mara and her parents with the debt her medical condition, and critical treatments and surgeries, have incurred. Donations may also be sent to: 479 Breeders Cup Court DeLand, FL 32724.
