FOTH hosts beautifcation awards ceremony in August Friends of the Hilltop, a nonprofit organization serving the Greater Hilltop area of Columbus since 1996, will host its twelfth annual beautification awards ceremony on August 10. The Friends of the Hilltop Beautification Awards recognize residential and commercial residents of the Greater Hilltop area who go above and beyond in the care of their landscapes. Hundreds of winners have been honored by Friends of the Hilltop during the course of the past decade through these special awards. Anyone may nominate a residence or business in the Greater Hilltop area for recognition. Every nominated property that is determined by the committee to be eligible will receive a certificate of recognition and be honored at the ceremony in August. Special awards with prizes will be given to four nominees in the follwoing categories: best commercial, best use of perennials, best use of annuals, and most improved landscape. The Friends of the Hilltop Beautification Committee is led by Chairman John Lowry. Other members of Friends of the Hilltop volunteer to serve on the committee. Property owners may nominate their own properties. Nomination forms, which can be found in this edition of the Westside Messenger or by going online to www.columbusmessenger.com, should be used to nominate a property you believe has gone above and beyond in the care of landscaping this year. Feel free to include photos of the property you are nominating. Nominators may remain anonymous. Nominations must be postmarked by the July 4. Nomination forms will be available at the Friends of the Hilltop booth at the historic Hilltop Bean Dinner.
