Sure, the fair features truck pulls, rides, and livestock shows, but it also features food! This year’s fair food scene will look a little different with the addition of food trucks in the evenings.
Depending on the night, one or two food trucks will set up beside the beer garden, near the infield side of the fairgrounds. They will serve up tasty treats from approximately 5 to 10 p.m. to coincide with the nighttime entertainment.
“We’re trying to create bigger events this year to draw in more people,” said fairboard member Tia Sexton. “Food trucks are a pretty popular thing anymore. So, we thought, why not bring in as many as we can to add to the traditional fair vendors.”
The food truck schedule is as follows:
- Saturday, July 8–Schmidt’s Sausage Haus in conjunction with the rodeo;
- Sunday, July 9–Schmidt’s in conjunction with the pig scramble and Sean Prather’s concert;
- Monday, July 10–El Ray Tacos in conjunction with the KOI dirt drag races;
- Tuesday, July 11–The sandwich-themed Family Spoon in conjunction with Paulina Jayne’s concert;
- Wednesday, July 12–Pitabilities and Schmidt’s in conjunction with the OSTPA truck and tractor pulls;
- Thursday, July 13–Little Bear Food Truck serving toasted subs and more in conjunction with the Mason Cordell Memorial motocross races and Aaron Buckley concert;
- Friday, July 14–Dos Hermanos tacos and Little Bear in conjunction with the autocross races and Trainwreck concert; and
- Saturday, July 15–El Rey Tacos and Little Bear in conjunction with the demolition derby.
Of course, the fair will feature plenty of traditional food vendors set up throughout the heart of the fairgrounds. According to Hope Thornberry, fairboard treasurer, 25 vendors are returning from last year, joined by 12 new vendors.
The beer tent will be open each night of fair week.
