President Jack Reall and the Columbus Fire Fighters Union have announced the public open house of their newly renovated offices. The union offices are now located at the historic Toledo and Ohio Central Train Depot located at 379 West Broad St. The offices will be open to the public on March 17, following the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Firefighters will be on hand to give tours of the completely renovated facility.
The Columbus Fire Fighters spent 2 years and $2.5 million of their own funds to purchase, renovate and restore the facility, saving a historic structure from demolition. The building is one of the largest remaining structures of its kind from an era when railways were the primary method of transportation. The building has survived two floods and two major fires during its 113 year existence.
Snacks, coffee and soft drinks will be available throughout the day.
All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
