The steamy weather and the threat of pop-up storms could not keep the masses away as hundreds descended upon Prairie Township Fire Station 241 to devour nearly 2,000 pounds of ocean perch for the 71st annual Fish Fry and Cruise-In held on June 25 and 26. The beloved westside tradition, which is hosted by the Prairie Township Firefighters Association, was canceled last year due to COVID-19. Fire Chief Allen Scott, seen here transferring the perch out of the oil and into a cooling basket, said it was nice to get back to some “semblance of normalcy,” but admitted he did not miss cleaning the oil off of his lenses.
